Direct the work of canal employees in the operation and maintenance of a canal section and instruct them in the methods of performing varied maintenance work. You would perform supervisory activities that include monitoring staff performance, completing performance evaluations, counseling employees and conducting investigations, as necessary, and determining staff assignments. You would investigate accidents, complaints, requests for permits, and violations of canal regulations; participate in the development and supervise the implementation of construction and maintenance programs; approve payrolls, purchase orders, and vouchers; and have overall responsibility for preparing/monitoring the Section budget.
