Volunteering

I have been volunteering since I was a child. My family and I lived in Romania as missionaries until I was 12 years old. We delivered meals, interacted, provided clothing and shelter, and counseled the underprivileged individuals and families in the rural villages of Romania. I have visited Romania several times since my time living there in order to volunteer. I have also directed and participated in multiple Christian camps there with large groups of people. We played games with the children, provided meals and shelter, held daily Bible studies, and counseled those who needed it. I always had such a wonderful time there providing for others. My passion for helping others and the mental health field came from my experiences in Romania. For over 6 years, I have volunteered as a cook, food prepare, and food deliverer for Meals on Wheels. I have also volunteered with Secret Santa for over 5 years as well as collect toys and children's clothes throughout the year and deliver them to families in my community during the winter months. I visit different nursing and hospice homes a few times a month to sit and talk with the elderly. I sometimes bring the people that I come to see gifts, their favorite candy, a new book, and always a card on the holidays! I enjoy providing for others and seeing them happy!

Additional Information

I am very cultured and well versed due to my time living in Romania. I am excellent in communicating and empathizing with individuals from different cultures and of different races, especially the less privileged. Living in Romania with my family as missionaries is where my desire to serve my community stemmed from. I have experienced many things and many people in my life that not many people get to experience which allows me to connect with others on a deeper level. I am very approachable, intrigued, and want to help others. I am very culturally rounded and am not afraid to step out of my comfort zone with others.
