Michael Ruffin

Serves as the Battalion and Brigade Targeting Officer supervising counterfire operations recommending weapon locating radar coverage, ensures enemy indirect fire targets are passed to fire control and operations elements for action. Follows the target selection standards when developing enemy targets and suspected targets. Conducts coordination of target acquisition assets with operations, and intelligence officers.

Served as the Company Fire Support NCO in a Security Forces Assistance Brigade (SFAB); assisted the Company
Commander in critical information for the deployment of indirect fire assets in combat situations; coordinates with
higher HQs to clear ground for fires; develop final protective fires and fires support coordination measures (FSCM);
ensures all Fire Support Advisors in the Company are trained and proficient; responsible for training, advising,
assisting, accompanying, and enabling Foreign Security Forces (FSF) in conventional military fire support;
responsible for the design and development of fire support for the force; supports unit training and readiness;
responsible for the accountability of $500,000 in weapons, optics, and organizational equipment.

Served as an Observer-Controller/Trainer (OC/T) for fire support elements of light, airborne, air assault, and special
operations forces at the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC). Teaches, coaches, and mentors all members of the
Troop Fire Support Team, USAF, and USMC elements on current doctrine over the course of 10 rotations annually.
Responsible to provide critical information to the training unit during the Task Force and Fire Support After-Action
Reviews (AARs);ensures safe training; and charged with the maintenance and accountability of $340,000 worth of
Army property.

Fire Support NCO for an Airborne Infantry Company assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division with the ability to deploy worldwide in support of the Global War on Terrorism; responsible for the coordination and execution of fire support assets to include field artillery, mortars, naval surface fire support, attack aviation, and close air support; advises the Company Commander on the capabilities, limitations, and employment of indirect fires; supervises and trains three Forward Observers, two Fire Support Specialists, and two Radio Telephone Operators.
