Work History

Day Shift Supervisor

Aahn's Placw
WELLINGTON, KS
01.2023 - 08.2024
  • I was asked to come into to Aahn's as the company was struggling to retain staff, remain in cps compliance and were having extensive behavior problems with their clients. It was my suggestion that my history of being a charge RN and my love for working with patients that suffer from mental illness and trauma may help. I was brought in to help make suggestions and changes to improve the business.
  • Generated weekly progress reports outlining accomplishments achieved during the week.
  • Prepared detailed reports summarizing daily transactions and activities for management review.
  • Teach current staff the importance of documentation and how to complete it properly.
  • I was asked to take an overall look at the program and make suggestions on issues we were having, especially
  • behavior and porperty damage.

Registered Nurse

Via Christi St Francis
Wichita, KS
01.2000 - 01.2014
  • My first Eight years was spent working in the Burn ICU unit. This is where I was introduced to child abuse and neglect and suicidal ideation.
  • As difficult as this unit was to work I learned a tremendous amount. Our patients stayed with us until they went to rehab so we often, through continuity of care, bonded with them for months.
  • I learned that no matter on what has happened to you, or what decisions you have made, you deserve to be treated and respected as a human being. My time in the Burn ICU was at the height of the Methamphetamine lab explosions. I learned a lot about addiction. The trauma that usually precedents the addiction, the social economical roles that play a part, and how the addict in your care is still very much human.
  • Provided emotional support and comfort to families during difficult times.
  • Coordinated discharge planning activities including arranging follow up appointments or referrals for additional services. This was my first experience in case management. Preparing patients for discharge too a multifaceted team.
  • After eight years int the Burn ICU I transferred to the Emergency Department night shift. This is where my real education on homelessness and all the issues that go with it started. I worked nights so we were our own social workers.
  • I saw first hand how your socioeconomic background, any previous trauma that has been experienced, lack of resources and mental illness can effect the care you receive and the lack of community involvment.

  • I completed the Karyn Purvis TBRI caregiver training program with TBRI principles in 2023.

My eight year from work hiatus.

  • After I left nursing I started a business with my husband and was able to stay home and raise my children. Our oldest two daughters were later to start driving so I got them to all their after school activities, clubs and sporting events, my oldest played travel softball and my middle daughter does power lifting and wresting. This filled my schedule full. Now that I have one graduated and everyone driving and I ready to return to the work force. When I left nursing I swear I would never go back. After working at Aahn's, which I did on a whim as a favor to a friend I became very interested in case management and how can we take youth, or adults, that are struggling and help them reintegrate into being functioning members of society and find happiness and success. I am interested in the Juvenile Intake Officer. I do not have a bachelors but I do have years of experience and the availability to be on call. I am also interested in the corrections officer for juvenile or adult.
