My father was in the grain business as I was growing up.
I worked at Riceland Foods while attending Arkansas State
Upon graduating was employed by Cargill Inc. in Damascus, Ga.
Returned home to Missouri and worked for Continental Grain
Was a member, a board member and president in/of MidSouth Grain Shippers
I contacted and built a customer base of farmers/customers for both delivery of their grain to our North Little Rock facility and for FOB pickup of corn and soybeans from their bins.
It was my responsibility to buy the farmers grain and report it to our merchandising desk to be hedged.
I initiated, composed and sent a twice daily market text to a customer base. the text was a morning (Oakley Grain AM) message that outlined newsworthy and market moving news from after the previous days close, during the night and early morning. I also gave an up to the moment market price at the time the text was sent. I sent another text after the markets had closed with market news, reports of the day and market closes as well as what Oakley Grain delivered grain prices were that day.
