Work History

Employment & Training Worker I/II

El Dorado County Health And Human Service Agency
Placerville , CA
2021.09 - Current

I utilize motivational interviewing techniques to interview and evaluate eligible program participants' employability to assist clients in achieving self-sufficiency and employment.

I administer and interpret vocational assessments and I assess clients' employment and education history; identify employment related skills, abilities, and barriers to develop goals and plans to improve skills and abilities and overcome barriers as well as provide career guidance and employment and training counseling.

I provide labor market information related to local employment possibilities; and as appropriate, refer clients to employment related educational and training opportunities. I refer clients to other staff members or to community resources for direct and intensive services and specialized counseling as necessary and I advocate on clients behalf for most suitable services including enabling services.

I can make home visits in connection with casework assignments. I provide community outreach for various agency programs. I conduct orientation workshops and one-on-one training for new and returning program participants. I explain relevant program regulations, rules, and policies to clients and the general public.

I complete and process documents, correspondence, and reports for authorized supportive services, manually or using an automated system. I maintain regular contact with clients to monitor each client's completion of tasks and progress toward attaining goals that will lead to securing employment, and compliance with program requirements.

I perform a variety of clerical duties related to organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling assignments; meeting deadlines; completing forms, reports, and other documents; maintaining automated and manual files and logs; managing client cases. I perform data entry into our automated system as well as in spreadsheets.

I was assigned responsibility of managing the supportive services of the child care program in addition to maintaining an active employment and training caseload with Welfare to Work. I reviewed and disseminated the letters, rules and regulations surrounding the child care program and recent updates in order to be able to process requests for child care and requests for child care payments accurately and effectively. I assisted in updating the child care desk guide and other child care related forms and documents to meet new requirements and to have the most recent language and information. I created a spreadsheet to better track child care payments and ensure child care providers are getting paid timely and accurately. I participated in training co-workers in the child care program and continue to support them in understanding and processing child care accurately, effectively and timely.

I made updates to outdated materials and submitted them to analysts to be updated as well as ensured they would be put onto a central internal page for ease of access for our department.

Currently I am working as an Intensive Case Manager (ICM) for the Family Stabilization program and the Housing Support Program. I work more intensively with clients, helping to identify both short and long term goals, and step by step plans to achieve those goals and lead them to a path of work participation and self sufficiency.
