This position includes scheduling office visits, confirming urgency in patient diagnosis', patient evaluations & intake when arriving to the hospital, patient prepping for CT scans, biopsies, & thyroid ultrasounds, evaluating diagnostic tests and communicating results effectively to patients and healthcare providers, and patient medicine & dietary prep before testing and operations.

  • Currently in this job role, I am responsible for all community health work at multiple practice sites for Norton Healthcare. This position required me to obtain a car seat certification in Kentucky to assist with families in need of safety seats for babies or proper installations. I travel throughout the community, including home visits, to assess the social determinants of my patients, and locate resources that assist with transportation, education, employment, maternal needs, primary care physicians and more.   • In this job role, a Community Health Worker is responsible for offering resources to patients affected by violence in the city of Louisville. Patients that come into the hospital for a gunshot wound or stabbing are patients I see. I offer the patients assistance during their hospital stay when nurses or doctors are unavailable to help. The resources I offer to patients are available post-discharge. Including but not limited to housing assistance, employment resources, schooling information, wound evaluations, and more. This position included community events organized in hopes of decreasing violence-related injuries. In addition to the post-op care, I assisted with medical and clinical duties included but not limited to assisting with exams and symptom intake. During hospital clinc days, I assisted with laboratory tasks, changing wound dressings during home visits, vital signs, and patient education explaining medical information and special diet care.

  • American Red Cross Community Event (Jan. 2016 – Aug. 2018): Assisted in activities involving bringing active-duty service military personnel home to their families safely. Worked with the military population and community to ensure soldiers are equipped with resources needed to serve our country. Secured community blood drive appointments via on-site mobile unit with different Louisville businesses and medical facilities.
  • Dare to Care Food Drive (Jan. 2018 – Aug. 2018): Organized and implemented the collection of specific healthy foods for organizations throughout the Louisville Metro community. Assisted patients with obtaining food and resources after incurring severe trauma related to gunshot wounds and stabbing.
  • Stop The Bleed (Jan. 2018 – September 2022): Conducted presentations to the mayor’s office, fire department, sheriff’s office, high schools, and more community places in Louisville to demonstrate how to stop the bleed if ever to have a gunshot injury. Organized PowerPoints to create a visual of how lives are able to possibly be saved if the proper steps were taken to protect the wound.
