An accomplished 25 year telecommunications industry executive and skilled business leader in both deployment and network operations. Mike has led large-scale programs, and rapid deployment and expansion efforts for Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T. He has launched new technology four times on the operator side: GSM, CDMA, WiMAX, and most recently with DISH launching the first of its kind cloud native, open RAN 5G network.

Northeast Region Vice President

Held executive level responsibility for the overall delivery of RF design, network deployment, integration, and operations of DISH's unique Open-RAN, cloud native 5G network across the US northeast region, spanning 13 states and Washington DC

  • Built 7 market teams in 8 offices during the pandemic
  • Lead team of 250 people, and 10 direct reports; Effectively managed an annual operating budget of $160M;
  • Successfully created an RF design that delivered both maximized covered POPs, and a network that can be optimized to carry Voice over New Radio traffic;
  • Leased, permitted, constructed, and integrated 5000 macro sites in less than three years - a capital spend of $1.3B; Created and implemented changes in the construction process resulting in tower installs averaging 14 days in construction and rooftop sites averaging under 30 days
  • Built strong, effective vendor partner relationships with tower and fiber companies throughout the region
  • Delivered an aggressive build plan to meet FCC requirements to provide 5G coverage to 20% of the US population by June 2022, and 70% by June 2023.
  • Commercially launched the network in key markets including Philadelphia, Washington DC, Baltimore, Richmond, Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Hartford, and all of Upstate New York. New Jersey and NYC metro to launch 12/31/23.

  • Increased Turf Vendor scorecard ranking from 11/13 to 3/13 within 18 months
  • Negotiated uniform GC pricing, improving margin by 8%
  • Launched 4 new AT&T markets for SAC
  • Integrated commissioning and integration into deployment team; consolidated back office operations, successfully rolled out a new database of record, improved forecast accuracy to 95%, achieved company-best employee satisfaction survey scores.
