• While immersed in Portuguese language and culture, I explored aquatic ecosystems and biodiversity with biologists and sustainability researchers.
• My field work included assessing water quality and threats to ecosystems, census-taking of plant and animal species, observing dolphins in the Atlantic Ocean, intertidal monitoring at area beaches, birdwatching at a coastal lagoon, and conducting interviews with locals on human and economic impacts related to marine ecosystems.
• My final project aimed to raise public awareness around coastal dune preservation and the plastics crisis that is harming the ocean.
• I'm now able to apply my sustainability insights to future studies and environmental initiatives.

An active member since kindergarten, I have gained valuable experience in leadership, service, and teamwork. Through annual cookie sales, I learned essential skills such as goal setting, communication, and entrepreneurship. My participation in annual service projects (volunteering in food drives, women's shelters and local church consignment sales) helped give back to the community while building a sense of responsibility and empathy. I have developed strong friendships, explored new interests, and learned life skills through badge-work, preparing me for future challenges with confidence.
