Leadership Experience

  • My leadership experience consists of volunteering in my local area by coaching a youth soccer team and mentoring new soccer referees
  • Volunteering: Last year I was a local soccer coach for a 4th grade team. I organized practices, game schedules, and practice locations. This allowed them to gain experience and expertise in time management and handling difficult situations. I made many phone calls and sent emails to coordinate with parents and their child's schedule to make sure I could come up with the best solution for everyone.
  • Mentoring: I have been a soccer referee for 5 years and have recently been mentoring new and upcoming referees. This allows me to learn how to take my skills I have learned and teach the new referees. This can be a difficult task to take your knowledge and share it to new people in a way that can be comprehended. Mentoring has taught me skills such as being understanding, respectful, and being able to be an active listener.

Professional Development

My professional development grew during my clinical experience at Tacoma General Hospital. I was given the opportunity to work with a variety of surgeons in many specialties. This has allowed me to have to adapt quickly and learn surgical skills and techniques in a high stress environment. These skills have continued to develop and has allowed me to display my skills greatly to management and my preceptors. My professional growth is shown in my dedication to my coursework that displays my commitment to continuing my education in the medical field. I aspire to increase my collaboration skills in the operating room and advance my skills.
