Abroad Experience

I took a trip to Thailand for two weeks with Loop Abroad Program, where I achieved 8 research hours and about 60 hours in total of veterinary and animal experience hours. I attended lectures for companion Animal Behavior, Body Language and Restraint, Companion Animal Anatomy,  Population Control in a Cultural Context, Internal Parasites, Prevention and Treatment, Elephant Anatomy and Physiology, Elephant Husbandry and Management. I also was attended labs involving Elephant Diet Preparation, Nutrition Workshop: Elephant Diet Study, Urine and Fecal Analysis, Elephant Veterinary Shadowing and Medical Treatments, Physical Exams Practice and Skill Development, Injection and Catheter Placement Lab, Cytology labs (fecal, skin scraping, blood smears, ear swabs), Health Checks, Vaccines, Blood Draws and Heart Dissections. I was also able to assist in spay and neuters for both cats and dogs. I helped both cutting in surgery as well as monitoring anesthesia during these surgeries. I assisted in a total of four surgeries during my stay.

I want to get into Vet School and be able to become a travel Veterinarian By doing so I hope to be able to find different tactics as well as understanding different cultures approach to medicine to hopefully practice in the states if there are better routes to go when it comes to helping animals I would as well like to specialize in surgery
