• Responsible for general animal husbandry, including changing holding areas, feed and water utilizing specialized techniques and equipment
• Ensures that the animal care and environmental policies and procedures are adhered to at all times
• Recognizes and reports conditions of animal health and welfare that are at variance from normal for the species
• Escalates any issues to supervisor
• Ensures and monitors the proper maintenance of laboratory facilities, including animal holding areas, cage wash areas and associate corridors
• Assesses conditions of caging equipment and makes recommendations for equipment replacement and/or repair

• Assist with inpatient nursing care as directed by LVTs including and not limited to: bottle-feeding neonates, administrating oral, topical and ophthalmic medications, Performing in house tests (Parvo snap, Ringworm culture )
• Maintain a high standard of animal care and welfare, which includes providing scheduled feedings, clean water at all times, proper bedding and enrichment toys
• Properly clean and sanitize kennels, wards, cages, equipment and areas of shelter as assigned, according to ACC policy and procedure
• Bathe or clean animals immediately if they become soiled
• Observe and document unusual behavior, signs of illness and any injury of an animal on a daily basis
• Communicate vital information to medical, behavior, adoptions and New Hope departments as needed.
