Nathan Berumen

I currently work as a busser in a restaurant, it has been a great job and has taught me what a work place environment is like and what the expectation is while working. Along with cleaning and resetting each table quickly to prepare for new customers it takes good communication with my co-workers on what each of us is doing and how we can help each other. My daily duties like sweeping, cleaning glasses, lighting the tiki torches, serving water, and resetting tables aren't tough tasks but they require attention to detail. I have also had many opportunities to improve my customer service skills, customers always have a need and it's my job to be professional about how I respond to them when they ask me of something which is a skill that is not always easy.

This was my first job, and it showed me how to be polite as a server. Working with older folks wasn't easy, they are hard of hearing, grumpy, and often times their body has deteriorated greatly. Because older people require so much care it allowed me to become more patient and empathetic when working with them because I knew that if I was in their shoes I would want someone with a positive energy.
