Projects

Isolation, Identification and characterization of petroleum hydrocarbon degrading microorganisms from oil contaminated soil., This research showed that Bacillus and Pseudomonas species are the potent oil degraders and can be used to remove oil from the oil spillage site. Exploring the potential of biosurfactants in heavy metal remediation and its antiadhesive property, This study showed that Bacillus and Pseudomonas species could be effectively used as bioremediation tool in removal of toxic heavy metal such as Chromium (VI) and Lead (II) from industrial waste water. Biosurfactants produced by Bacillus and Pseudomonas species inhibited the adhesion of different strains isolated from contact lens. Hence, antiadhesive nature of biosurfactants was confirmed. Malolactic bacteria culture development, A well developed malolactic culture was established and successfully used as a starter culture for carrying out large scale malolactic fermentation in wine. Previous studies were mostly carried out using Medium for Leuconostoc oenos (MLO) & Mann-Rogosa-Sharpe (MRS). But in this study, Soybean Casein Digest Medium was used which suggests that this medium can be used as an alternative media for malolactic fermentation. Production of Biodiesel using grapeseed oil, Biodiesel was extracted, but the recovery was less using grapeseed oil. Making of liquid handwash and soaps using grapeseed oil, Successfully made liquid handwash and bar soaps of different fragrances by adding essential oils to it.
