Nicole Laliberte

I have essentially worked with children my whole life. I grew up in a home daycare, babysat, nannied for a few different families throughout the years while receiving my degree in Early Childhood Development. I was hired on by the YMCA as a toddler teacher and then moved into preschool and worked at all three of their centers, YMCA in Auburn, Daisy Garden in Lewiston and the Garden Temple in Auburn. I wrote curriculums, and led the classroom not only open to close but also navigated childcare through a worldwide pandemic. Most centers closed, but while working for Daisy Garden, we were located across the street from the hospital and the majority of the children belonged to doctors. A few of us kept the doors open for those doctors and created a safe environment for both the children and their parents. The world was a place of uncertainty during the pandemic but my classroom forever remained a welcoming and loving environment for everyone.

Iv always worked my entire life. my résumé left out the small jobs; the fast food, convenient stores, the cashier jobs; but I have always worked 1-3 jobs at a time as staying busy and contributing to society are most important to me. Connecting to others, is most important to me. Networking, helping the next person along, personally or professionally, I will always show up.

I am currently a stay at home mom to a child with Down Syndrome. I waitress part time to stay in the work force and pay the bills, but my main focus is my daughter. Children have always been my main focus so having this opportunity to stay home for her most important years, is the most rewarding job of them all.
