Manage office staff of three full time employees (two medical assistants and ultrasound technologist) in an office treating 15-20 patients per day.

Cardiovascular

• Assess, evaluate, diagnose and treat patients for cardiac symptoms, risk factors which include ordering cardiac testing such as Electrocardiograms, Echocardiograms, Stress testing, CT angiography coronary, Cardiac Catheterizations to name a few.
• Educate patients on lifestyle modifications for better cardiovascular health, including but not limited to nutrition, exercise and stress management techniques
• Responsible for ordering cardiac medications and educate patients on risks, benefits, side effects and importance of medication compliance

Vascular

• Screening patients for vascular symptoms and risk factors to evaluate for deep vein thrombosis, venous insufficiency and peripheral arterial disease
• Educate patients on conservative therapy of venous insufficiency via compression stockings, exercise, nocturnal elevation, low salt diet and increase in hydration
• Evaluate patients who have not achieved optimal pain relief or improvement in vascular symptoms despite conservative therapy for vein ablations
• Assess and treat patients with peripheral arterial disease via implementation of a CT abdomen and pelvis with IV contrast and peripheral angiogram/angioplasty
• Order supervised exercise therapy and evidence based medications for treatment and management of peripheral arterial disease

Primary Care

• Work with families, caregivers and patients to determine the best options for treatment, diagnosis, and prevention.
• Facilitate patient referrals to specialists and other healthcare providers.
• Perform patient physicals and compared and contrasted results with established medical records to provide proper diagnosis and facilitate appropriate treatment.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests to develop and implement treatment plans.
• Educate and guide patients on disease prevention and healthy lifestyle habits to prevent and treat multiple co-morbidities and other health complications.
• Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities to support health and comfort of patients.
• Perform comprehensive physical assessments, accurately diagnosing conditions, and determining appropriate interventions.

• Daily duties entailed assessing, monitoring and treating patients with acute and chronic diseases, counseling and educating patients on health behaviors, self-care skills and treatment options upon discharge
• Facilitated communication and coordination of care with hospitalists, cardiologists, specialty physicians, social workers, case managers, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other nurses on a 40 bed unit
• Admitted and discharged two to four patients daily
• Managed a daily census of six to eight patients with multiple illnesses including Congestive Heart Failure, Arrhythmia, Myocardial Infarction, Hypertensive Urgency, Stroke, Hyperlipidemia, Diabetes and performs wound care
• Assessed and closely monitored patients status post cardiac catherization, pacemaker insertion, ablation and peripheral angiogram/angioplasty
• Mentored experienced nurses and new nursing graduates in the residency program
• Served as a resource and clinical leader in best practice acts
• Oversaw all new graduate nurses in an entry level position on cardiac telemetry, providing comprehensive nursing guidance and ensuring high level of safe clinical practice
• Reviewed education activities, as well as, implementation of evidence based protocols relevant to unit and hospital
• Participated in clinical summation in reviewing the nurse's goals, safety and progress on the unit.

• Audited charts for implementation of the pain scale and dyspnea scale amongst palliative and hospice care patients
