Making the decision to shift direction and pursue emergency medicine was not taken lightly. - As a Juvenile Detention Specialist, I am responsible for the custody, care, discipline, safety, and security of the children in our facility.
- All specialists have been trained to intervene in crisis situations, relying primarily on verbal intervention.
- Other skills developed on our team include making detailed care plans, coordinating the residents' individual and group activities (educational, cultural, and social activities), and providing an emotional and structural supportive environment.
- In this position, I have gotten the opportunity to work with and advocate for juveniles from all backgrounds and I continue to learn to navigate the complexity of each situation.

Additional Accomplishments
Through my positions as childcare staff, a server/bartender, and detention specialist, I have had the chance to train many oncoming staff members in each respective role. Making personal connections with new staff and ensuring their comfort and aptitude for a role has been fulfilling and has helped me grow as a person.
As a personal project, I successfully run a home test lab with active directory, domain controllers, and Group Policy Objects (GPOs). This has fueled my passion for hands-on learning and I strive to continue such work.
