Guiding Questions and Your Personal Thoughts and Activities
We encourage you to take advantage of the Guiding Questions and Your Personal Thoughts activities located within the training modules. The Guiding Questions activity provides you an opportunity to reflect on or contemplate a short list of thought-provoking questions as you go through the specific module. Whereas, the Your Personal Thoughts activity involves documenting your original thoughts, opinions, and experiences using whatever platform or method you prefer.
Please note: You are not required to submit any original content for the Guiding Questions or Your Personal Thoughts activities directly onto eBased Academy; furthermore, these activities are not required to receive full credit of completion of individual modules or for CPRS Certification of the 16-hour curriculum.
However, we do encourage you to use these opportunities to enhance your learning experiences and build stronger connections to the content being presented within each 11 modules. Whatever you choose to document is meant for your private use only and is not a part of the training module.
There are several options for how you can incorporate these activities into your training, but please keep in mind that they are meant to be private, impactful, and meaningful for you. Both the Guiding Questions and Your Personal Thoughts Activities may challenge you to think differently or view a topic from another perspective. They may also help you develop new or existing skills in documenting your opinions, beliefs, experiences more regularly or frequently.
Documentation is one of the most important aspects to the role of a Certified PRS or for other professionals in behavioral health. As you prepare for your future role as a PRS, we want to help you develop this skillset in a non-judgmental, safe, and friendly environment. Here are some ideas to consider for these activities:
Journal: If you feel more comfortable writing, consider purchasing a notebook or diary for your CPRS training, or use software or computer programs like Microsoft Word or Google Docs to create and save your content.
Video or Voice Recording: If you’re comfortable in front of the camera or enjoy recording using a smart phone, microphone, or other tech device this option works well for documenting, saving, and organizing your content.
Web-based platforms: There’s a great deal of free recording programs that can be found on the web by searching for “free voice or video recording”. These require a reliable internet connection, smart phone, or computer for capturing your vocals or video.
Artistic Expression: If you prefer communicating through an alternative format, consider drawing, painting, sculpting, scrapbooking, or other form of artistic outlet to express yourself. These activities may have even helped you on your pathway to recovery. Please be mindful that as a Certified PRS this form of documentation may not be considered acceptable within an agency or organization
