Cover Letter

  • Dear Hiring Manager
  • I am writing this letter to introduce myself as an applicant for the job of Child Life Specialist. I am a current student at Southern New Hampshire University, pursuing my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, specializing in Child and Adolescent Development. Due to my background in general management and medical administration, I have very good communication and organizational skills that can help the children and their families.
  • My interest in child development stems from the fact that I have a baby boy named Rayyan, who was born prematurely after 26 weeks of gestation. He has been encountering several developmental and health issues since his birth till now, one of which is tube feeding. My observation regarding his development process has increased my interest in child development and emotional illness.
  • As far as my education is concerned, I have had the opportunity to learn about child development, developmental psychology, emotional intelligence, ethics, and research methodology. These courses have enabled me to gain knowledge regarding the developmental needs of children, family-centered care, communication, and health professionals.
  • The importance of being a child life specialist lies in reducing anxiety, coping mechanisms, and stress management in clinical environments. In order to become a child life specialist, I should create a good relationship with the children, keeping in view their developmental, emotional, and cultural aspects. Some of the qualities that I have gained through my experience include empathy, patience, and compassion.
  • I am very excited to join your organization and learn from other child life specialists. It will be very helpful for me to know about how my education and commitment to children’s rights can help me achieve your organization’s goals.
  • Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to speaking with you.
  • Sincerely
  • Nuriya Aweys
