Nyah Falcon

For the past several months, I have been caring for a one-year-old while completing online college classes. A few of my many responsibilities include:

• Supervising the child in a safe environment, ensuring their well-being and comfort.
• Communicating effectively with parents regarding their child's progress and any concerns.
• Taking the child to the doctor when instructed to do so by parents, as well as administering medications at consistent times whenever needed.
• Planned and organized engaging activities tailored to the child's interests and developmental stages.
• Fostering and creating educational tasks to promote learning and developmental achievement.

My time as a student volunteer involved maintaining responsibilities during school hours, as well as many hours spent outside of school to continue volunteering in classrooms. While most of my time during school hours was spent with one teacher who guided me through lesson planning, directing lessons on my own, and working one-on-one with students, I would also dedicate some of my after-school hours to teachers who needed additional help tutoring students. My daily responsibilities consisted of:

• Adapting quickly to new tasks, demonstrating flexibility and eagerness to learn.
• Taking and following detailed directions from others.
• Working in a team environment to maintain high levels of productivity.
• Contributing to a positive work environment by maintaining a professional attitude and demonstrating respect for all individuals involved in the project.
• Positively impacted the lives of countless individuals within the community by dedicating time, energy, and passion towards meaningful causes as a student volunteer.
• Maintaining a tidy and organized environment to comply with cleanliness standards.
• Creating educational materials to convey important information to service recipients.

During the summer of 2024, I was asked to care for donkeys, chickens, and ducks. I would drive out to Slaton every morning and night for a few weeks to ensure the animals were being properly cared for at their assigned times. My responsibilities for caring for the animals included:

• Providing daily care for pets, including feeding, changing bedding, and ensuring their safety at night by gathering the animals and locking them in their designated pens.
• Developing strong relationships with pet owners to ensure satisfaction and trust.
• Maintaining detailed records of pet behavior and health for owner updates.
• Adapting to schedules to accommodate last-minute requests for pet sitting services.
