• Nesting Birds : Was able to observe a pair of house finches create their nest and watch the growth and behaviors of the nestlings. ( 20 hours ) Monitored the construction of a humming bird nest as well as the care for single nestling. ( 10 hours ) . Giant raven nesting site is found at my job which allowed for a large number of raven nesting observations ( 30 hours )
• Birding Observations : While conducting a survey for my ornithology class I monitored pelicans , seagulls, and brandst cormorants at the PCH on different days to study their foraging habits.(25 hours ) Hummingbirds , annas in particular , have been observed as multiple locations during different seasons throughout the year ( 30 hours )
• Red tail Hawks have been observed at multiple locations ( 40 hours )
• Observing woodpeckers everyday ( 10 hours )
• Observing morning doves at multiple locations ( 30)
• observing quail ( 10 hours )
• ( Mammal ) Bats - Conducted a research project on santa rosa island identifying whether bats [refers naturally occurring structures to roost in over abandoned anthropomorphic structures ( 25 hours ) . Bat observations have primarily taken place in ventura. ( 10 hours )
• 'herpetology : Rattle snake observations have been made at multiple locations throughout the day . ( 15 hours )
• Botany - Independent research done at CI. gardens under the supervision of Dr. Alarcon to identify different growth rates among plants based on varying types of fertilizer. Studied invasive species and ways to remove them with minimal damage to the environment .
• Joshua Tree : observations were primarily made in lancaster ( 40 hours )
• Eucalyptus : observations have been made as several locations ( 45 hours )
