Running the NYC Marathon was an opportunity for introspection and a chance to support a cause I believe in. The discipline of waking up before my nine am class and logging 8-12 miles every morning forced me to look inward and face my weakness of not only running physically in the present but, most importantly, the idea of facing something daunting and having to adapt adequately to accomplish this goal. This adaptation for running 26.2 miles gave me the time to think; I was forced to think independently while running through the backwoods and roads of Norton, MA. This was extremely influential on my personality and how I choose to go about my day in a stress-free mindset aided by grace. I was healthy beyond belief. When beginning the training process, I had yet to learn this way of life, so my motivation to run solely came from the charity PALS I chose to support. PALS (Patient Airlift Services), in short, provides patients with free flights to a doctor who can save their life. These patients stem from places of finical need to stay alive, so PALS offers an efficient transportation service to allow the patient to access the adequate doctor. This charity motivated me to get my butt off the couch and take advantage of being able to run because most of PALS patients are unable to do so. Overall, this was the most impactful experience of my life, and I have benefited immensely because of it. It was a pleasure to support PALS and inspire friends and family to run.
