Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Led the state wide Fecal Immunohistochemistry Testing(FIT) and Interventional Gastroenterology component of the medical outreach. It was divided into the Pre- outreach component, outreach and post outreach components.

Pre-outreach: January- March, 2024

  • Developed outreach strategies to enhance community engagement and awareness of health initiatives by involving the local healthcare providers and community partners including the state department of Health.
  • Coordinated events and educational workshop targeted at colon cancer awareness and screening modalities.
  • Recruited over 500 patients who satisfied the inclusion criteria and scheduled the patients in the exclusion criteria for colonoscopy.
  • Conducted FIT on the participants and enrolled those that are positive to participate in the free colonoscopy exercise during the outreach.

Outreach: April, 2024

  • Scheduled and managed the recruited patients in the course of the outreach.
  • Assisted the Interventional Gastroenterologist in the Endoscopy suite for the colonoscopy, polypectomy and hemorrhoidectomies.
