Volunteer Experience

  • Worked with the missions pastor and other volunteers at Southcliff Baptist Church (Fort Worth, TX) to create a ministry called "World Friends Cafe." This was an addendum to the ESL classes that were offered at the church weekly. The World Friends Cafe took place in the clubhouse of the apartment complex across the street from the church where many refugees and immigrants lived. It was a place for people to practice English with native speakers over a cup of tea or coffee and make new friend. We interacted with people from the all corners of the world, many of them being Muslim. This ministry also worked with the ESL ministry to host the ESL Thanksgiving at the church and block parties at the apartment complex. This ministry is still thriving today and has grown exponentially.
