Uses the Virginia Supreme Court Case Management System (CCMS) and Case Imaging System (CIS) to receipt, scan, index and verify civil and criminal related case documents and other court related documents as designated by the Clerk. Receipts, files and enters new civil, criminal, and miscellaneous cases into CCMS; assigns docket numbers and files court documents; removes ended cases from the docket; assist with jury management and necessary. Performs general office duties to include opening mail and distributing to appropriate personnel and/or departments. Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information or refers caller to appropriate personnel and/or department. Assists general public in record room by accessing and copying records; maintains security of permanent records within the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office.
As a magistrate, I provided an independent, unbiased review of complaints of criminal conduct brought by law enforcement or the general public. My duties included issuing various types of processes such as arrest warrants, summonses, search warrants, emergency protective orders, emergency custody orders, and certain civil warrants.
