Paola Chavez

• During summer in 2020, I worked for Instacart as a shopper. My responsibilities included receiving and accepting customer orders, finding and purchasing the items, and then safely delivering them afterwards. Due to the pandemic, I have experience in no-contact delivery. I have excellent reviews of my performance and never delivered damaged goods. I also have lots of experience in working multiple orders at once.
• For the job, I had to use mobile application to complete orders, request permission for substitutions, and communicate in real-time with customers. I also noted all special customer requests, preferences, and favorite products in order to enhance service and loyalty.
• A big part of the job was delivery of goods to the customer. In order to ensure safe food transportation, I was equipped with insulated bags in order to maintain the food at their optimal temperature. There were also times when my job would require me to deliver prescription medication. Deliveries could, at times, be close to the grocery store or in the next city. All of my orders ended with safe and successful delivery of all goods.

During my last year of high school, I was an unpaid apprentice at my local library. This position allowed me to gain a strong understanding about organization, office work, customer service, and communication.

• My daily tasks for this position included check-in and check-out of books and materials, helping visitors with book selection and/or computer help, cataloging library inventory, returning items to their original place, keeping shelves and floors clean, and occasionally tutoring both kids and adults with school work in both the English and Spanish languages. This position really helped me learn to be independent since every day it was my job to complete all and any daily tasks rather than my supervisor telling me what to do constantly.

During high school, I was very much involved with my school's FFA program. This meant that I spent lots of time on our school's farm. For four years, I was constantly at the farm to accomplish whatever had to be done. Some of the responsibilities I had were feeding and watering the animals/plants, cleaning stables and pens, grooming the varied species we had on campus, administering medicine and assisting births, building and repairing fencing or doors, and communicating with my teachers whenever problems would arise. Although this wasn't a paid position and I was just a student. The Farm Manager trained me and trusted me with responsibilities. This position helped me fortify my integrity and strong work ethic.

While at SUU, I have been able to exercise many of my passions. In particular, Cedar City has given me the opportunity to volunteer at several festivals regarding both music and film. These volunteering positions have helped me become a self-starter and develop collaboration skills.
