Work History
LTS Forestry Assistant
Mass. Department Of Conservation And Recreation
12.2023 - 03.2024
Implemented "Forest Stand Improvement" in post-timber harvest regeneration as prescribed by Foresters in an attempt to promote & maintain diversity in age, structure and species composition in forests surrounding Massachusetts' water supply
Used digital GIS maps to locate specific sub-units in timber harvests which had been flagged by Foresters
Canvased sub-units to locate desirable tree species and determine where surrounding trees/vegetation were negatively impacting growth or may "out compete" desirable species in the future then used chainsaws or appropriate tools to remove the offending trees/vegetation (trees being removed typically ranged in size from sapling to poletimber)
Maintained equipment (sharpening chains, cleaning chainsaws, replacing bars/chains as needed, cleaning air filters etc.)
Completed DCR sponsored chainsaw/hazard tree felling training
Worked under other Natural Resource staff whenever I was needed or given the opportunity (deer & moose pellet surveys, owl survey, gull count)
LTS Laborer II
Massachusetts DCR
05.2023 - 11.2023
Interacted with patrons to ensure their overall satisfaction and safety as well as compliance with park rules
Used power tools/equipment to maintain overall appearance of park
Removed hazard and fallen trees to allow the public to more safely access the park's trails/day use areas
Certified for use of chainsaws by North American Training solutions (hazard and danger tree cutting and felling techniques and technical tree cutting and felling techniques, sponsored by DCR)
Completed "Stop the Bleed" course (sponsored by DCR)
Completed 2 day "DCR Customer Service & Visitor Experience Training"
Along with co-workers I contributed to a wildlife management plan regarding problem beaver and mitigated damage to a major trail caused by flooding through a multifaceted approach including exclosures, clearing culverts, trail repairs, and unfortunately recommending permitted trapping of nuisance animals by a licensed P.A.C. agent to the Park Supervisor
