Work History

Senior Scientist – Safety Rep, Capital Equipment Champion

GlaxoSmithKline
04.2019 - Current
  • Evaluated hundreds of unique targets with novel genetic associations in collaboration with 23andMe geneticists
  • Led target review across multiple disciplines (biology, tractability, safety, competitive landscape etc.) in collaboration with matrix partners
  • Presented recommendations to several layers of governance boards for next steps including stagegate transitions and go/no-go experiments.
  • Developed and optimized key assays to support go/no-go decisions for novel targets across multiple modalities (small & large molecule)
  • These included primarily: flow-based readouts, internalization assays, receptor expression validation, etc.
  • Primary immune cell assays, including receptor activation/additivity, cytokine release, histamine detection, etc.
  • Co-lead on an external collaboration collecting patient samples for IBD/UC.
  • Served as the safety representative for the department: attended meetings with safety representatives across Collegeville site, EHS departments, cascaded policies to Immunology research unit, ensured compliance throughout the department, etc.

Senior Scientist – Capital Equipment Champion

GlaxoSmithKline
08.2018 - 04.2019
  • Lead biologist on program that developed Jess/ELISA degradation assays in support of the characterization of novel PROTACs.
  • Assisted in uncovering previously unknown pharmacology reducing efficacy of agonists to generate functional antagonists by a partial agonism mechanism.
  • Provided support for a lead optimization program that included cytokine release assays, detection of phosphorylation markers via Jess, etc.
  • Assisted with translational disease package via mouse splenocyte isolation/ex vivo assays and characterization of receptor/cytokine/RNA levels in diseased patient samples.
  • Oversaw the approval, purchase, and maintenance of instruments for the lab.

Scientific Student Worker

GlaxoSmithKline
05.2017 - 08.2018
  • Designed and developed assays to detect biomarkers using WES (automated Western blot) in support of several immuno-inflammation portfolio projects.
  • Designed and executed cellular/molecular biology assays such as luciferase, qPCR, ELISA, etc.
  • Completed a robust thesis project that included the discovery of a novel chemical series.
  • Trained colleagues in the use of WES technology and mentored them in the development of new assays using the technology.

Student Researcher

Drexel University
08.2016 - 05.2017
  • Designed and executed in vitro experiments for the study of dendritic cell responses to a flavonoid-based treatment for Multiple Sclerosis.
  • Characterized and validated pathways involved in inflammation and the activation of dendritic cells.
  • Presented comprehensive data and literature at weekly lab meetings.
  • Interpreted results from experiments and the literature to further design subsequent experiments in metabolism and immune crosstalk.

Associate Scientist

Absorption Systems
10.2014 - 01.2015
  • Designed and executed ADME/DMPK assays for pre-clinical testing.
  • Performed permeability plate assays for drug analytical screening, including inhibition studies.
  • Developed methods for accurate detection of test compounds via LC-MS.
  • Prepared and provided reports of the performed studies for submission to clients.
