Accomplishments

  • DEVELOPED AND IMPLEMENTED powerful pedagogical strategies for teaching mathematics using creative visual models to communicate some of the fundamental ideas of mathematics.
  • INCREASED attendance and participation in class by focusing on the numerous and important applications of mathematics to the natural sciences, business and practical everyday life applications.
  • EMPHASIZED to students the empowerment and joy that a lifelong habit of studying mathematics can bring to their lives. Grounded important mathematical ideas in the proper historical context which allowed to students to “rediscover” important mathematical truths for themselves.
  • EXPERIENCED in curriculum development, planning and assessment. Developed an Associate Degree in Mathematics program for Quincy College and created many of the courses in that program. Devised clear and concise standards concerning attendance expectations, grading policy, academic dishonesty and make-up examinations. Created many online mathematics courses via the CANVAS Learning Management System and used ZOOM to meet with students and review problems using a document camera. In addition to this, I founded and was the faculty advisor of the very successful Quincy College Chess Club from 2008 to the present.
  • RESPONSIBLE for lesson planning, lecturing, grading homework and tests on a weekly basis and administering problem sessions along with review sessions for tests and quizzes.
  • RECEIVED POSITIVE EVALUATIONS from both the faculty and students at Salem Community College, Boston College and Quincy College for my teaching abilities and classroom performance. These evaluations are available upon request.
