  • As reflected on the enclosed resume, I have a true passion for working with children and enjoy teaching them, as well as learning from them. I obtained my Associate’s degree in education at Medgar Evers College, in January 2004. I pursued an early childhood major because I wanted to learn how children develop and how I might help them have a great growing up experience. I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies, in December 2005. I chose this major knowing that it would help me become a well-rounded individual. In February 2008, I graduated from Mercy College with a Master’s degree in TESOL, Teaching English to Students of Other Languages. I chose this major because I remember the challenges I faced as an ESL student. I also want our new students to feel welcome and to stay in high academic standards without having to worry about the language barrier, age, economic status or culture.
  • This profession requires teachers who can relate to individuals of diverse backgrounds, who can help them learn a new language, but also assist them with cultural differences. I have helped and guided students academically and helped them grow emotionally for many years. At all times, I have been successful in making them feel respected, proud and successful. For example, working at the Summer Camp was a great experience for me. I learned that sometimes people, children and adults, could be stubborn or simply feel as if they know everything. By maintaining my calmness and welcoming their ideas, I was able to prevent them from becoming upset, and they were able to learn in a stress free environment. It is also imperative when working in a school, being in a classroom or in any other area, that teacher’s welcome leadership. As you will see in the resume, I enjoy being the leader of groups because I feel that I have the essential leadership skills. For instance, students like to talk to me because they consider me a good listener, who incorporates different views, I believe in using creativity to enhance learning, and very importantly, I am very patient, which is necessary as a school body. I also have the ability to recognize when the things that are being said do not reflect the truth and I am thus able to modify my knowledge base. These skills can benefit children, young adults, and my peers, because they are essential in successful teamwork.
  • I have worked with children and adults for a long time. I have been a dance organizer/performer and a cheerleader captain, which required patience and dedication for the routine teachings. Being a babysitter was also very interesting because helping children with their homework, and taking them to parks and museums required much of my attention, especially when it was time to talk about what the children saw and learned on these trips. I loved being a youth counselor because it was always a learning experience for them and for myself. As a youth counselor I learned skills that proved to be very effective and essential because they provided the patience, creativity and dedication necessary for the young people in need of my services. I am currently working as an ESL teacher at Metropolitan Learning Institute; here I am learning that teaching adults and teaching adolescence requires similar teaching techniques, For example, patience, guidance, understanding, and empathy for their trust and motivation, these are skills that I will always carry with me.
  • This letter is being sent to you because I would like an opportunity at working in your school, were I know I can help children grow and learn in a very effective way. I am confident that I can help students learn the fundamental skills needed to become active members of our society regardless of culture, language, age, or disability.
  • Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing from you. You may contact me at 1-(347) 262-2429, or via email brazoanpebbels@hotmail.com.
