I have worked with horses since childhood (my father was a veterinarian). I also have experience with cattle and sheep while in the Animal Science program at the University of Tennessee.   • My responsibilities have included preparing and administering animal medications (including injections), wound care, determining and preparing diets, food orders, husbandry training, drawing blood samples, as well as the safety, rescue, rehabilitation, and transport of marine mammals (by ground and air). Transports I have been involved with include flights to California, Canada, Abu Dhabi, UAE, and New England to Florida. I was also responsible for supervising animal rescue missions and health assessments. I also conducted interviews with local and foreign language media to provide the public with timely updates on the progress of rescued animals. In addition, my duties include staff supervision, evaluation, training, interviewing, and counseling as well as developing and implementing revenue generating programs for the Animal Care and later Husbandry Departments. When SeaWorld had polar bears, I was a member of the Animal Care Department’s lethal restraint team and am qualified with firearms. As a bilingual member of the staff I served as translator/liaison for visiting Animal Care professionals from Spain and Portugal as well as various parts of Latin America including Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, Brazil, and Cuba. As a representative of SeaWorld, I traveled several times to Argentina. These trips were to assist in the establishment of a Marine Mammal Program at the Veterinary College, University of Buenos Aires and to serve as translator for a SeaWorld team that went to film killer whales in Patagonia. I also spent five weeks in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain to assist in the successful hand-raising of a male killer whale calf.
  • Co-lateral duty as SEA Latin American Animal Ambassador. Duties include representing the SeaWorld-Busch Gardens Conservation Fund, and the SEA Corporation during appearances on Spanish language television and radio programs; interviews for printed media, public appearances in Mexico, Argentina, Puerto Rico, California, New York, and south Florida, and attendance at receptions promoting tourism to the state of Florida. Represented SEA at the New York Stock Exchange when SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment became a publicly traded company. Other trips abroad of a more personal nature include Mexico, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Spain, France, Monaco, Italy, England, Belize, Guatemala, Bahamas, Gibraltar, Israel (including Palestinian Territories), Kenya, South Korea, and Antarctica.
