- Sandy Hook is a mixture of natural, cultural and recreational resources serving a vast audience in the New York Metropolitan area, it includes seven miles of Atlantic Ocean coastlines including recreational bathing beaches, nesting habitat, and fishing access
- Other resources include a maritime holly forest, a 1764 National Historic Landmark Lighthouse, and a NHL Landmark District dedicated to Coastal Defenses from Colonial to Cold War eras
- The unit manager position was created in 2009 and manages local issues and daily operations at the Sandy Hook Unit.

- While on detail, I oversaw the daily operation of the park through three supervisors, the Facility Manager, Administrative Officer and the Chief Of Cultural Resources and Interpretive Operations.
