  • Lead the first security detail chosen to establish Army operations in Forward Operating Base Jackson Sabit Qadam, Afghanistan
  • During which time wrote and had command approved the Standard Operating Procedures for all army activities within that area of operation
  • Supervised the Army security detail assigned to FOB Musa Qala and oversaw all tactical operations conducted by the army during assignment there
  • Teams there logged over 200 hours of joint site security with Marines and Local National Police forces
  • Participated in a joint initiative with Naval Corpsman Staff to expand an aid station set up to serve as an Emergency Clinic for the area to respond to all medical incidents for coalition forces and local nationals
  • My team responded to 20 emergency medical incidents and logged hundreds of volunteer hours at the aid station while not conducting official operations.

Infantry Fire Team Leader

277th Maintenance Company Security Detail

  • Served as Scout vehicle commander guiding convoy's of 6 to 15 and above vehicles and an upwards of 50 military personnel to include at times several Afghan contractors
  • Missions required hundreds of miles through hostile territory and most outposts traveled to I was the first to lead and establish routes there
  • Overall tactical knowledge of squad and vehicular deployment as well as extensive experience in orienteering were all applied to make me one the most reliable and effective scout vehicle commanders utilized at that time
  • Over 300 logistical Convoy missions were completed with zero loss of coalition assets, as well as over 5000 miles of road time through hostile territory was logged at the peak of our operations
  • Areas of responsibility ranged to encompass the entire Regional Command Eastern section of the Afghan combat theatre
  • FOB Jalalabad, Salerno, Gardez, Lighting, Warrior, and Khilagay were among the outpost's frequented by our teams
  • During this time served as primary unit armorer and was specially selected by command to oversee the maintenance, repair, and fielding of over 20 varied crew served weapons for the gun crews of two units
  • Briefed leaders on readiness, equipment status, and enemy locations to enable sound decision making.
  • Maintained current in-depth knowledge of team member strengths and weaknesses to most effectively plan battle strategy.

Senior Scout Observer

H company 121 Infantry Airborne Long Range Surveillance

  • Primarily served as gunner for the lead vehicle and logged hundreds of road hours during numerous missions
  • Became highly proficient in the maintenance and deployment of heavy weapon systems during convoy security operations
  • Was awarded a second combat infantryman badge for hostile engagements during mobile recon patrols near the Syrian Iraqi border
  • At the rank of E-4 I was specially selected to lead a resupply team on foot carrying over a hundred pounds a piece through a kilometer of hostile territory undetected to a hidden LRS team and return
  • This mission was one of the first and its success was highly merited by our higher command.

  • Worked in small highly mobile tactical teams specialized in intelligence acquisition, and surveillance of potential threats to coalition forces
  • Served on Second Platoon First Squad, which logged more missions and were chosen for the most high profile assignment's in the unit
  • Was awarded first Combat Infantry badge for responding to hostile insurgent action during intelligence acquisition mission near Tallil Airbase in Nasiriyah, Iraq.
