Teaching is one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. Helping young artists develop and breathe visual life into their ideas through the art of picture making is a privilege. I have spent the past 40 years researching and making illustration based on a broad array of subjects and sharing what I have learned with my students. My primary mediums are graphite and watercolor & color pencil. Editorial manuscripts have been the inspiration for some of my most exciting work. Texture and light are key visual elements that flow through much of my work. Changes in texture can add tremendous interest to a picture. By learning to use light effectively, even the most humble subject matter can develop the power to arrest the viewer.
