All duties are performed at the organizational maintenance level of responsibility, which includes inspecting, cleaning, servicing, preserving, lubricating, adjusting, troubleshooting, testing, and making authorized repair/ replacements to target systems and components.

1. Perform a variety of maintenance tasks on ranges, facilities, and training areas. Perform quality assurance inspections; performs operational tests on multiple Target Systems using technical manuals, test equipment (voltmeter), and makes visual examinations to troubleshoot causes of malfunctions, i.e., uses visual observation and voltmeter to troubleshoot during target device operation; determines if causes of malfunction are electrical, electronic (signal), mechanical or hydraulic (hardware). Typical tasks include checking fluid levels, inspecting connections and connectors, manually checking operations of sensors, tightening fittings, cleaning and lubricating parts, and changing/charging batteries. Perform operator level maintenance require to restore power, signal or correct mechanical operations. Perform target device and component Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) on a variety of target systems. Repair or replace exposed, broken, cut, or damaged power, and signal cables. Replace faulty target devices and components IAW established procedures through visual inspection and troubleshooting procedures. Remove, replace, and adjust damaged/inoperable target systems components. Submit Work Request and forward items requiring repair beyond the organizational level to Range Maintenance Section for repair or replacement. Make necessary adjustments (mechanical) to integrated target systems to ensure proper integration and correct operation of the entire system. Perform general maintenance tasks and assist in maintaining ranges, facilities, and equipment to support range operations. Perform grass cutting, clean target pits, reshape target berms, clear training areas, install and remove target system batteries, service target systems, and remove debris from training ranges. Grass cutting requires operating a tractor ranging in size from a farm-type tractor with attached equipment such as mowers, plow, sprayer, etc. to small riding powered mowers. Perform basic carpentry work repairing target framing as required. (Approx. 55%)

2. Operate Target Systems utilizing computer controlled target system, such as, Tower Range Control Station or Portable Handheld Computer. Execute scenario step sequences for operation of range targets located downrange. Monitor Range Control Station and Portable Handheld Control device feedback to determine correct operation and report malfunctions.
Operate and perform organizational/operational maintenance on diesel or gasoline powered generating systems (1.5-50KW) and various portable power sources (i.e., air compressors, skill saw, drill) used in support of live fire ranges and facilities. Adjust, service, replace components, and make authorized repair on various components and target systems, to include repair/replace targets, batteries, thermals, target frames, power cables, hit sensors, solar power panels, and Battle Effects Simulators (BES), Troubleshoots, refuels, and replaces faulty components such as fuses, targets, thermals, wiring harness, hit sensors, and target lifting mechanisms. Utilize common mechanic hand tools; determine causes of malfunctions, isolate faulty components, and determine extent of repair or replacement required. (Approx. 35%)

3. Operate and maintain wheeled vehicles ranging in size from 1 1/2 ton truck to 5 ton truck, and commercial farm equipment used by this organization ensuring before, during, and after operational checks are performed and necessary log book information is filled out after each operation of the vehicle.
