Drafted June 1968.After basic training I was sent to engineering school for precise power generation was sent to Germany at a Hawk Missile Battery November 1968.My roll was to run and maintain 45kw generators for all equipment mostly for emergency backup power I did this for about 5 months with the MOS of 52B20.Around June of 1969 I had a chance to transfer out of that section and into Fire Control.This was the section that watched radar screens and could do the actual firing of the missiles on unfriendly aircraft I actually OJT for the jobs in this section.This was the Cold War we all got to know at that time.I really enjoyed it and in January 1970 I went before the E5 board and passed.I was discarded from active duty with another MOS of 16E40 with the rank of E5 May 19 70.When you were drafted back then it was two years active duty ,two years reserve(which I didn't have to serve),on paper for two years , a six year commitment I received my Honorable Discharge 1974
