My name is Remi Komagata, and I am 21 years old. I am a class of 2020 Aiea High School graduate. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with CTE and Academic honors, 3 years on student council as 2nd Vice President and Corresponding Secretary, 4 years on Aiea Varsity Side-line and Competitive Cheer Team. I was a dancer at Studio 808 Dance Project for 14 years, and have been a teacher's assistant for younger dance teams, ages 3-11 years old. I am also a President of a dance club at OSU that I started about 3 years ago.
I have been dancing for about 18 years and it is something that I look forward to doing each week. Upon graduating high school, I took a break from dancing for about a year. However, when I started attending OSU, I created my own dance club which I have been President of for about 3 years now. I created this dance club for all students at OSU to join, no experience needed. My goal was to spread the joy of dance to all people, even if they've never danced before. I feel that dance is a great way to "escape reality" and it has been my way to express my feelings. Throughout my life, dance has taught me many things, one of which being how to work as a team. I carry these lessons with me every day and I'd like to teach these lessons to others through dance.
