- As a GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) Tutor my number one goal was to make sure the students who were considered low-income be prepared to enter and succeed in post-secondary education.
- As an ELDA (English Language Development Acquisition) Tutor my focus was in helping and supporting English Language learners in their academic journey.
- For both programs I helped students in their four core classes, Mathematics, ELA, Science and Social Studies. We concentrated on English Language Arts and Mathematics since data showed that’s where most students struggle.
- As a tutor I would go into the respective classrooms and would help anywhere from one student at a time to anywhere from 4-6 at time. I did this in conjunction with the teacher and the needs of the student, whether it was problems he/she was having with academics or if it was a language barrier.
- I was also in charge of inputting all types of data into spreadsheets and creating payroll for other tutors. A long with those responsibilities I would also help students with their college essays and their applications for college.
