Summary Of Achievements

  • Enhanced South Bend's Wastewater GIS map by adding numerous layers of sewer data.
  • Located and removed over 1100 cubic yards of debris and major blockages from South Bend’s 96-inch interceptor sewer.
  • Used data analysis and visualization skills to nearly eliminate dry weather overflows from South Bend's wastewater collection system.
  • Created a database of over 17,000 chemical, microbial and radiological contaminants that might threaten drinking water and/or be found in wastewater.
  • Researched pharmaceutical parent and metabolite compounds and prepared a database.
  • Developed research plan and proposal for advanced wastewater treatment system designed to treat emerging contaminants.
  • Developed strategy for regionalization of Indiana’s wastewater treatment plants.
  • Published article in the German American Water Technology Magazine.
  • Received a grant in 1991 from the American Council on Germany to travel to Germany to study German water and wastewater treatment.
