Work History

Grocery/Backroom Inventory Team Leader

Meijer Inc.
Lafayette, United States
05.2016 - 10.2021
  • My duties as the G/BITL included, but are not limited to: Leading my team to run backstock, adjust numbers, perform weekly inventory counts to verify stock levels and run load that was left unfulfilled whilst managing inventory. I coordinated efficient shipping and receiving practices for trucks each day while implementing continuous improvement strategies to optimize team performance. I developed a thorough team for the grocery department that were reliable and independent. I continually evaluated supplies and product inventory to check for quality and quantity issues and returned unacceptable materials to vendors. Over the last few years, our team was focusing on in-stock availability doing hole counts much more often and investigating any missing product. We have been compliant with the Ready To Sell program since the pilot system was implemented. I led my team to the lowest company hole counts consistently for the entire Central Region for 2018. I guided the grocery market to win the Regional Backroom Contests for both the Spring and Holiday seasons in 2018 and 2019. I have developed strong relations with the vendors and corporate partners over the years while being privileged to excel in this role.

Grocery Inventory Team Leader

  • Transitioning from overnight stocking to daytime shifts, I was well-versed in the follow-up with the night crew and regularly developed & maintained communication on fixing in-stock conditions. I formulated efficient merchandise replenishment strategies to keep shelves stocked and well-organized for customers. I steadily submitted reports to senior management to aid in business decision-making and planning. I assumed full control of changing the center aisle floor and endcap adjustments. I efficiently delegated tasks and duties to grocery staff and clearly communicated timeframes for completion. I assessed supplier quality to maintain tight cost controls and maximize business operational performance. I am well-educated regarding Store Additional Quantities, Remedies, and ordering processes. Our Lafayette Meijer location was designated in becoming a pilot store for a new Inventory Analyst System that would aid in keeping our in-stock conditions superb.

3rd Shift Grocery/GM Team Leader/SDIC

  • I led third shift stocking between the overnight teams across the Grocery and GM areas. I was appointed Store Director In-Charge at that time. My focus centered around unloading the fresh and frozen deliveries for overnight stocking. I established and maintained operational objectives & work plans, as well as delegated assignments to subordinate managers whilst enhancing organizational efficiency by gathering business requirements & improving data models and reporting frameworks. My grocery team members adopted the CART/Ticket system faithfully under my guidance. My third shift team was responsible for center aisle and endcap changes for Friday and Saturday nights. Working overnight was a major objective to control and lead while learning a great deal about the item location system, delivery schedules, efficiency, & holding my stocking team members to the highest standard.

I routinely received and unloaded new items upon delivery and checked products for damage & order accuracy. I readied items for the sales floor stocking by affixing tags and preparing shelf labels. I consistently completed regular cycle counts and inventory audits, as well as stamping, attaching or changing price tags on merchandise shelving while updating the computerized price list.
