January 1999-March 2003- Master Control Operator

  • Prepped tapes for air by inserting commercial spots and well as the DTMF Tone for Affiliate commercial insertion.
  • Worked with Traffic in listing the current commercials within the Programs and created a Change List to place commercials in locations for the maximum potential revenue.
  • Provided basic PM procedures in the equipment such as head cleaning and ensuring full functionally of the controls.

March 2003-April 2014

  • Transferred into the Broadcast Engineering Department where I increased the level of services performed. Under the guidance of the original Engineer, learned more in-depth maintenance procedures such as video heads replacements, calibrations and other critical task.
  • Aided in the design and construction of a new Master Control Room which incorporated the channels first level of automation to the facility.
  • Worked with the design and installation of a full studio to include a control room, a lighting grid, camera positions and basic sets.
  • Worked on a variety of additional projects to include Playout Server upgrades, Video Servers implementation, Master Control Monitor Wall upgrade and several others upgrades as needed.
  • Reported equipment problems, checked on repairs, and made emergency repairs to equipment as necessary.

  • As a Field Radio Operator during my first enlistment, was attached to an Artillery Unit where I received call for fire via the Forward Observers and relayed the information to the Fire Direction Officer for both training and real life situations. Accuracy and attention to detail was a must in this capacity.
  • Was deployed to both Saudi Arabia (Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm) and Somalia (Operation Restore Hope) as well and deploying to Kenya as part of the 9th Com Battalion to support the withdraw of troops for Somalia.
  • During my second enlistments, I was assigned to Public Affairs where I worked with the base TV station on Camp Pendleton doing a wide variety of functions from Camera Operations to Video Editing to Program Acquisitions.
