I was an Assistant Corporation Counsel and Trial Specialist in the Queens Unit.

Attorney
NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development
09.1987 - 08.1997
I served as a Staff Attorney/Prosecutor at the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development. I investigated violations of the Housing Maintenance Code and Multiple Dwelling Law. During the winter months, our focus was on failure to provide heat and hot water. Non-compliance was enforced with civil penalties and contempt proceedings.
In addition, violations for Lead Paint were investigated and litigated. The remedy of Orders to Correct and Contempt actions were used to compel compliance. While correction of housing code violations was the primary mission of the agency, Fair Housing and Public Accommodation Discrimination were inextricably intertwined in the relief sought in compliance actions.
