  • Sailed aboard the steam ship T/S Kennedy for the Texas A&M 2022 summer sea term.
  • Took on a leadership and technical advisor role for the other assistant engineers and served as a mentor for many of the engine cadets.
  • Directly oversaw the maintenance, start up, and shutdown of the main engine, boilers, turbo generators, and fresh water generating equipment while supervising several engineers and up to 25 cadets.
  • Sailed aboard the M/V Cape Douglas and Cape Ducato in FOS and the Cape Douglas and Cape Edmont in ROS.
  • Served as 1 A/E during regulatory shipyard period in Philadelphia. Interacted extensively with shipyard management, contractors and ABS surveyors. Developed a much greater understanding of the ship's layout, construction and major equipment.

  • The constant rotation of crews, ships and schedules required lots of flexibility, and the ability to work with and train new unlicensed subordinates including wipers, OS and oilers.

  • Participated in five winter maintenance periods overhauling the ships main engines and other essential equipment such as unloading conveyor systems.
  • Acted as sole company representative in shipyard setting on several occasions. Successfully coordinated shipyard crews, outside contractors, ABS and USCG inspectors.
  • Overhaul experience with Bergen B32, Colt-Pielstick PC2, and EMD 645 main engines, and Cat 398, 399 and EMD 645 generators. Served as assistant crew leader on EMD overhauls.
  • Experience with Kamewa CPP systems, shaft alternators, load sharing medium speed diesels, and electronic upgrades to Woodward PGA governor controls.
