General Summary The Cashier/Sales Associate is responsible for register transactions involving the sale and/or return of merchandise with a positive attitude, helpfulness, and smile. They will also assist in the receiving, stocking, pricing of all merchandise and help maintain a clean and orderly merchandise presentation and overall store cleanliness. Most importantly they will provide helpfulness to our customers by executing the Ace SALES process. Essential Duties & Responsibilities * Accuracy, efficiency, and helpfulness. Customer Service  Project a positive representation of Ace.  Greet customers entering and throughout the store. Thank customers by name, when possible, when they are leaving the store.  Project a friendly, outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as associates.  Proactively assist customers in solving problems.  Possess a friendly outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as associates.  Ensure all pages and calls are answered promptly, courteously and effectively.  Forward any customer complaint that cannot be handled to a member of management.  Possess strong product knowledge and knowledge of store layout and location of products.  Assist customers throughout the store with personal, customized service based on the premise of amazing every customer, every time.  Clear customer checkout lines quickly and efficiently.  Answer and monitor all calls and pages promptly, courteously and effectively.  Communicate any problem or issue that requires management assistance.  Continually build product knowledge base and possess the ability to assist customers with store layout and product location.  Assist in pricing, stocking, marking and bagging of merchandise. Register Operations  Follow all cash register transaction procedures.  Responsible for balancing of register drawer.  Adhere to any Store Support Center program or promotion that may require implementation at the cash registers.  Participate in store meetings. Store Operations  Assist in creating a positive, professional and safe work environment.  Assist with receiving, checking in and stocking of merchandise throughout the store.  Assist with maintaining back stock levels.  Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness and cleanliness of the sales floor, stock room and outdoor merchandise area.  Assist with providing a clean and orderly sales floor, including end caps and ad merchandise.  Assist with merchandise resets through the store.  Provide assistance to Department Specialists, i.e. price changes, special orders.  Ensure signage is current throughout the store.  Operate forklift with proper training.  Communicate any Store Support Center issue to General Manager for follow up.  Communicate any merchandising, cost control or sales idea to General Manager.  Participate in store meetings.  Be professional in appearance and actions.  Perform all other duties as assigned. Front End Appearance and Upkeep  Keep the front end, including checkout areas and entrance doors neat and clean at all times. Face and dust front end.  Assist with keeping impulse counters stocked and faced, rotate fresh merchandise in as seasons change.  Ensure fresh ads are stocked in shopping carts at all times.  Ensure forms and supplies are stocked at all times.  Assist with decorating the front end according to the Store Support Center program.  Call for cart pickups when necessary.  Inform management when merchandise returns need to be put away.  Perform all other duties as assigned. Education/Training: Familiarity with Word and Excel. Working knowledge of the products we stock. High School or GED equivalent. Experience: Cashier experience preferred. Customer service experience preferred. Physical Demands: Standing, walking, lifting (up to 25lbs) and climbing.
