I have a broad background in research and development, with specific expertise in areas related to medical imaging and medical device industry. In my current role at Unify Medical, I focus on project management and systems engineering, as well as overseeing and conducting research and development activities. I have served different roles in the industry, which has helped me gain experience in software and hardware development, project management, team building and multi-institutional collaboration. I have worked on research and development of medical imaging systems throughout academic research, and subsequently spent several years integrating and introducing the technology into the industry. My research efforts included preparing, performing and documenting IRB-approved clinical studies which had a direct impact on patient quality of life. Since 2016, I have been focused on clinical translation of medical imaging technologies such as wearable intraoperative imaging systems, application of augmented reality in clinical settings, image-guided navigation systems that directly or indirectly assist surgeons in performing procedures. I have had the opportunity and experience of serving as PI and Co-I on several projects funded by federal agencies, industry, and hospitals. In the area of customer feedback and user collaboration, I have the experience of serving as Unify Medical’s entrepreneurial lead on an Ohio I-Corps grant awarded by the Ohio Department of Education, resulting in customer discovery and development of a business model canvas through interviewing over 70 surgeons. Surgeons’ feedback attested to the critical need for better wearable imaging devices. In addition to my background and experience in hardware and software development for multi-modal imaging and augmented reality, I am engaged in execution of commercial project management framework and process of regulatory affairs needed for medical devices to comply with FDA requirements. Lastly, I am eager to take on new opportunities in research areas, as well as keeping my connection with the industry to benefit from the multi-discipline collaboration.
