Ryan Yashar

Worked as a medical volunteer in the outskirts of Cusco, Peru as a part of a mobile clinic. Gained valuable experience taking blood, weighing and calculating BMI, assisting in dental cleaning and pulling teeth, organizing patient paperwork, teaching patients how to stay healthy in Spanish and the native Peruvian language Quechua. Gained additional experience building a greenhouse in Cusco, Peru alongside the other medical volunteers.

Worked with grade levels between elementary school and college undergrads. Began tutoring in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic and continued to find students due to word of mouth and client recommendations. Provided one-on-one tutoring sessions, tailoring instruction to meet the specific needs of each student while promoting independent learning skills. Promoted critical thinking skills through engaging activities and consistent reinforcement of complex concepts. Learned valuable skills in communication while teaching concepts to students of varying backgrounds, ages, and fluency in English.
