As a Nurse Aide, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for administering care in the areas of skilled care, personal care, outpatient, and general population. Some daily responsibilities of the position include completing basic nursing skills and nursing procedures to maintain optimum inmate health and providing quality care such as obtaining vitals signs, weights, and other measurements as directed by the Registered Nurse; completing documentation as required; collecting specimens as directed by the Registered Nurse for urine, feces, and sputum; and assisting inmates with daily living activities and hygiene to ensure basic physical care needs are met.

Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol. Clean exam/procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control. Clean according to scheduled maintenance program and keeping appropriate records. Manage inventory of supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms.
• Check schedules and organizing patient flow. Accompany patients to exam/procedure room. Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc. Collect patient information/history; taking vitals, performing screenings per provider guidelines. Relay instructions to patients/families. May provide more individualized patient/family education and supportive counseling as needed.
• Answering calls and providing pertinent information including patient education as directed.
• Under the direction and supervision of a physician, administer injectable medication and vaccines when appropriate.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKG’s, and level one labs. Perform clinic procedures according to policy and procedure. Assist physicians with procedures. Document patient information into the medical record.
• Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e., OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health). Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data. Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

My responsibilities when working at Idlewild and Soakzone was to take customers orders and get their food at the time I was not allowed to touch the grill or fryers when I first started at fifteen years old. My last year working here I worked in games all over the park. My responsibilities in games was to get my money and put it inside a apron and then open my game and be ready when the customers started to arrive.

Accomplishments

My accomplishments that I made working at Idlewild and Soakzone was making sure the customers had a good experience and would come back for more memories. If there was a problem, I would try to make the customers visit more pleasant and if not accomplish-able I would get my manager to assist them more.

My first year working at Idlewild and Soakzone I was ready to do my job and any other job that needed to be completed before i left at the end of the season I was going to be promoted to manager in the food stands because I was able to do my job plus anyone else's job if it wasn't being completed and I was also willing to move around to different stand all over the park, but I couldn't take the position because it was time for me to head back to school. During my last year working I accomplished making little kids memories by helping them create ways to winning the games.

Skills Used

Some skills I used during my time working at Idlewild and Soakzone was Time management, communication skills and leadership skills. These are the most used skills because if you had a time to be at work I was always there 10 to 15 minutes early, with learning communication skills I had to learn how to talk to the customers and with understanding what may or may not have been wrong with their visit and to make it more comfortable for them to want to come back to create more memories, and finally with leadership skills during my first year working at Idlewild and Soakzone I worked in food and beverage and I was a very outgoing worker wanting to move from stand to stand throughout the park and if I was doing my job and someone else wasn't completing their job I would jump right on to completing every task that need to be complete and that's what my manager wanted to see which made them want to promote me to manager.
