- The 2023 Codebreaker Challenge consisted of a series of tasks that are worth a varying number of points based on their difficulty. Schools were ranked accordingly for the total number of points accumulated by their students.
- The 2023 challenge was strictly sequential, and one must be solved before the next one became available.
- Each task in this challenge required a range of skills to complete including emulation, cryptography, reverse engineering, dynamic reverse engineering, general programming, database retrieval, firmware extraction, hardware analysis, datasheets, forensics, and exploitation.
