Leadership and Program Development Experience

  • Researched, developed, implemented and sustained for the first time at Allen Home Health Services, a Pediatric extended care program (EPSDT), funded and regulated by Iowa Medicaid. This involved extensive research and focus on best practice, community need, standardization, and adherence to regulatory requirements and standards as defined by Iowa Medicaid Enterprises.
  • Co- implemented a course titled Managing Performance to Care Values. This course was developed to educate and support Allen Health System Management staff in managing staff performance to Allen’s identified employment core values. Secondary goal for this course was to facilitate a standardized process for performance management and expectations.
  • Developed, facilitated, and implemented several community clinics to include wellness clinics, influenza immunization clinics, and geriatric focused informational gatherings and exercise programs. This involved identifying community needs, marketing, and collaborating with local businesses and senior living facilities. As well as collaboration with area assisted living facilities to provide seasonal immunizations for senior living facilities.
  • Developed, facilitated, implemented, and trained staff for Allen’s first Advanced Care Management/ Palliative Care Program. This involved collaborating with physician’s and case managers at Allen Hospital to identify clients with qualifying diagnoses for placement in the program. I also networked and collaborated with Advanced Care Management teams in other hospitals to promote and develop standardized program across the health system.
  • Contract development for services/ collaboration of services with area living facilities.
  • Numerous performance improvement initiatives and tracking for regulatory compliance and identifying areas for improvement, revision, and staff / patient education.
  • Process development for standards of care to include staff education and monitoring for compliance and process effectiveness in meeting identified goals.
  • Developed, implemented, and sustained an in home respite care program through Allen Home Health Services in compliance with HCBS/ MR waivers as well as completing comprehensive assessments to identify care/ service needs and community services available to each individual client.
  • Developed, marketed, collaborated, and implemented an onsite health care services program at two local senior living facilities.
  • Developed competencies for medication preparation and administration of PRN and injected medications for Licensed Practical Nurses working in Home Care Connection. This involved tracking and identifying areas of a trended need for education and subsequently creating an educational standard with scripted language for a standardization of provided associate education.
  • Created competency training and standards for Home Care Aides in performing medication reminders to clients of Home Care Connection. This competency was created through research of best practice for care to include infection control, such as hand hygiene as well as a process for performing medication reminders to allowing for standardization among associates.
  • I have experience with budgeting, marketing, data collection, and cost containment. I have experience with coding and documentation for accurate reimbursement.
  • During my experience in home care, I implemented and provided education sessions for seniors in several local senior living facilities. These were held monthly and covered health care topics specific to this demographic.
  • My experience as a Clinical Documentation Specialist as provided me the experience of educating and mentoring physicians regarding documentation compliance and regulatory standards with respect to severity of illness and case mix indexes.
  • I have extensive experience in wound care, venipunctures, port access and care, stoma care and access and administering of IV, IM, and SC medications.
