Bartending has polished me into an individual who fully embraces providing quality customer service. As a bartender, time management and problem solving are two skills that I have been able to master in this role. Bartending has created me into an established saleswomen where I am trusted to lead and provide customers with what they want, even when they might not know. While this role is typically set in a very fast paced environment, categorizing the importance of multiple different tasks is key. However, one task that always remains at the top of the list is providing the customer with all things necessary to leave them with a five star experience. Delays and errors happen, but when they do remaining upbeat and positive is crucial in order to keep things running as smooth as possible. When I am not serving smiles, I am prepping my bar for incoming shifts and preparing cash drawers. Inventory is a very big part of this job and requires an extreme attention to detail. Physically counting all inventory, placing the weekly order, and stocking the deliveries is a very important process of my job and the business. Much of this is done collaboratively as well to avoid errors and to keep to process seamless.
This position provided me with a specific set of skills pertaining to the management of environmental sites and environmental consulting. I worked directly with a variety of clients including residential homeowners, commercial business owners, and subcontractors. the communication that I had with these clients were regarding the environmental issues of their properties. I was able to provide the best customer service to clients as I had communication with them through the entire process. With many of these clients, I was not only the consultant that they spoke with on the phone, I was also the face that they saw to collect the environmental sample. This created a level of trust between the client and I which was crucial to overall business development and success. Attention to detail was very important in this role, from the physical environmental sampling events to the written documentation that followed. In this position, important document preparation was required for each project. These responsibilities included approving submittals, updating documents such as environmental site assessments, site maps, and environmental health & safety plans.
This internship provided me with experience in fish aquaculture and fish hatchery management. Daily maintenance included cleaning tanks, feeding, recording mortalities, treating eggs, and testing dissolved oxygen levels in tanks. I also have experience in electrofishing which required passing a safety test during this internship. Electrofishing trips took place in northern New Hampshire streams where I sampled Eastern brook trout populations.
